The editor.
Two-column source/target grid with native Mac inline editing. Inline tag chips survive paste, partial deletion, and round-trip. Confirm + next unconfirmed (⌃↩) is the primary keystroke. Active row positions about a third down for context above and below. Autosave on confirm, segment leave, and app deactivate.
Translation memory.
Per-project TM with fuzzy matching, context-match detection, and provenance tracking. The TM panel sits below the editor as a persistent reference strip, not a modal. Click to insert a match. Concordance search across the entire project TM. Pre-translate from Project TM fills 100% and context hits as unconfirmed drafts.
Glossary.
Import CSV or tab-delimited termbases. Sanctioned target terms highlighted green in the editor when used correctly. A small red marker on the source when a required term is missing from the target. No popups, no walls.
Quality assurance.
Eight live QA buckets: Tags, Numbers, Punctuation, Capitalization, Glossary, Whitespace, Untranslated, and Repeated Word. Non-blocking and conservative. A small "!" indicator, never a confirm wall. Mark Reviewed (⌃⌥R) to advance to the next flagged segment. Consistency Check as its own tab for identical sources translated differently.
File formats.
Four bilingual formats in one editor: SDLXLIFF (Trados Studio), XLIFF 1.2 (open standard), TXLF (Wordfast Pro), and MQXLIFF (memoQ). Byte-perfect round-trip on every save. What arrived goes back out unchanged except the translations.
Projects.
Real Finder folders you own. A manifest plus clean subfolders for files, TM, and glossary. Time Machine works, iCloud works, Finder works. Nothing locked in a proprietary database. Export translated files anywhere. Multi-file tabs with Translate All for one continuous, filterable grid across all project files.
The LinguaAI suite.
File handoff between LinguaAI Terminology (convert .docx, .xlsx, .xml to XLIFF and back, plus unpack and repack Trados packages), LinguaTrans (the bilingual editor), and LinguaAI Pro (AI pre-translate and review). Single-click handoffs, round-trip proven. The file is the contract between apps.
LinguaTrans does not use AI and does not connect to any external services.
